Issue with Oracle ODP.NET BulkCopy to Temporary Table

odp.net ora-03113 oracle sqlbulkcopy

Question

I'm inserting a DataTable into a temporary table by utilizing the BulkCopy function from ODP.NET. The BulkCopy.WriteToServer() function throws the "End-of-file on communication channel" issue as soon as I add an index or trigger to a temporary table that is otherwise basic (i.e., without triggers or indexes). Any suggestions on how I could remedy this?

I'm grateful.

Accepted Answer

If you get an ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel, it means that a fault or error caused the server process responsible for your session to shut down. The client process raises the ORA-03113 when it recognizes that the server process is absent. The alert file contains the error message that the server process has produced. Find out what went wrong by looking at this file on the server. You may need to request help with this from your DBA.

Regards,
Rob.

Oracle has been notified about this. It seems to be a bug, which 11g corrected. They are currently working on a patch release.
